2011 People’s Choice Dutch Oven Cook-off Winners
The most flavorful part of the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival wrapped up with big sucess! There were more that 300 peole who attended the Dutch Oven Contest to choose the winners in the Annual Peoples Choice Cook Off.
This year proved to be as exciting as ever! There were fantastic prizes offered by the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival as well as Cherry Creek Radio. The Overall Champions went home with $1,100.00, a Camp Chef burner, dutch ovens and more. Some of the dishes to grace the mouths of the public included Sweet and Sour Alligator, Hawaiian Chicken, Cheesey Dutch Oven Potaotes, Not Your Grannies Apple Cobbler and over 20 other delisious mouth watering dishes.
The participants were all from Iron County and enjoy the age old tradition of cooking in the Dutch oven. Kacie Benson Carballo, the Chair of the Dutch Oven competition, and a member of the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival committee said; "This competition is one of the most historically important aspects of the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival, the use of historical cooking ware, old recipies and the best part of our heritage, the ability to get together around a pot of food and connect with friends, neighbors and family."
